1. The average menstrual cycle takes 28 days, although this can vary from woman to woman.
A regular cycle of 25 to 32 days is considered normal.
Menstruation normally happens 14 days after an egg is released. If the bleed happens sooner than 10 days, there is a luteal phase defect.
The luteal phase must at least 10 days long for a fertilized egg to implant securely.
If the luteal phase is shorter, pregnancy is not possible, even if the egg is fertilized and is dividing correctly.
A woman with a 23 day cycle who ovulates on day 14 is highly unlikely to fall pregnant naturally.

2. A woman’s fertile days depend upon the length of her cycle.

In the absence of a luteal phase defect, her fertile days are

3. Women who experience an irregular cycle are not able to predict their fertile days.
In this case, they may wish to keep a BBT chart (to discuss with the acupuncturist) .
Ovulation kits are not foolproof as 68% of women experience multiple “follicular waves” (several follicles mature at the same time, but only one will eventually rupture and release an egg).

4. Regular intercourse throughout the month increase the chances to get pregnant. If intercourse only happens on fertile days, the body may see it as an antibody.

5. A natural way to test for a woman’s most fertile days is for her to use the Spinnbarkeit test.
Cervical mucous changes in consistency just proceeding ovulation in order to help sperm on their journey into the reproductive tract.
When a woman think she should be ovulating, she should crouch down and use her index and middle fingers to wipe the inside of her vagina /cervix.
If the mucus is strechy and slippery like egg white and forms a bridge between the two fingers when they are moved apart , the woman is about to ovulate and is ready to have reproductive sex.

6. Sperm can live up to 5 days in the uterus, so there is typically a window of a few days in each cycle where impregnation is possible.
The day that leads to the highest rate of conception is two days before ovulation .
